The breakwater was littered with bodies and already the seagulls that had all but destroyed Eerie's native population of pterodactyl were out in force. Eyes were plucked out and swallowed, abdomens pierced and torn and entrails tugged free, and even the hardest wearing denim was shredded so the scavenging hoard could access the meatier parts of the human anatomy.

Janet Donner tucked her hair up under a wide-brimmed hat, exchanged her clean white apron for one of hardwearing leather, and grabbed a bucket. Much of the ocean's spoils were hers by right, and she would claim them for the Baitshop.

The time canoe had discovered the car's ability to take on human form, and now it was jealous and refusing to work. Marshall Teller, his socks both damp and temporally displaced due to an overflowing time stream that was somehow leaking out from under the shower tray, took a deep breath and tried to remain calm.

"Nobody's saying you can't be a person," he said, stepping backwards to avoid a spreading puddle of soda whose brand name was unknown to anyone born before 2047. "If you want, after this we can go to the Eerie Mall and do all kinds of cool people things. But for there to be an 'after', there needs to first of all be a right now, and right now our kitchen sink is overflowing with the space-time continuum and the contents of the laundry hamper is being used to soak up misplaced probabilities, and-"

He realised he was shouting and lowered his voice.

"And so right now what I really, really need is a time canoe, a linear paddle, and for you to let me tie this dino-proof twine around your centreline."

The time canoe flickered, sulkily, as it phased back into reality.

"Thank you."

People gathered beneath the striped awning in front of the Eerie Bus Terminal and Supper Club, grateful for the shelter that protected their elegant evening wear from the light spring rain.

The pterodactyls who made their home in the rafters of the Mark Twain Boarding House eyed the glittering sequins and starched white collars with interest, long beaks champing in anticipation of the frenzy to come.

Inside, waiters in neat red uniforms laid the finishing touches on a long line of banquet tables, bright floral centrepieces to lure human participants and high-backed chairs making a perfect perch for avian claws.

The sun rose and bathed Wolf Mountain in pinks and golds. The frozen crusts on the deeper pools of blood spilled the previous night steamed as they melted, attracting swarms of carnivorous bees and various other wildlife that made their homes there.

Marshall Teller unzipped the door of his tent then, more carefully, raised a single section of the protective silver mesh that surrounded it. He glanced around before easing himself out into the rapidly-warming spring morning.

"Check it out, Simon," he whispered. "This is where that flock of pterodactyls went after tthe seagulls took over the old Boarding House."

The flower beds that lined the gentle slopes surrounding Deadwod Park's Sunken Gardens were in full bloom, and the pretty white-painted benches dotted along the winding paths which lead through them were full of people on their lunch break, enjoying the sunshine and the riot of colours all around them.

A few pigeons strutted about, heads bobbing, cooing gently to one another as they waited for scraps to be dropped or thrown to them. A pterodactyl from the Mark Twain boarding house had joined them, but as it seemed content to share, so were they.

Simon tossed it a crust.

"We know that the Ghost Pirates came here via the Phantom Ocean," said Marshall.

He waited for a moment, but as Chisel didn't seem inclined to argue this obvious fact, he continued:

"We know that they stayed here after the ocean relocated the first time, and we know that they've chosen not to go with it when it's reappeared since."

The Mayor nodded.

"We also know that sometimes the ocean brings other things to the lake, and that those things can get stuck here."

"The seagulls," said Chisel, nodding again. "They're wrecking havoc on French-fry sales and the Pteranodon population."

All the fossils in the Eerie Museum of Unnatural History had come to life.

The pterodactyl was welcomed into the eaves of the Mark Twain Boarding House by it's flesh-and-blood brethren, and the plesiosaur had slipped beneath the water of Lake Eerie to the sound of triumphal piping from the Mackerell Soldier's Marching Band.

The trilobites were less lucky. Segmented crawling things the size of a man's fist were unsettling to most of Eerie's human population, and those few mad scientists and rot-worshipping cults that might have been interested had mostly been swallowed whole by their own creations.

Ah, well.

The pterodactyls that nested in the eaves of the Mark Twain Boarding House all wore collars with little bells on them.

Marshall wasn't sure what the point of it was, since the airborne dinosaurs tended to screech "YARGH!" very loudly before dive-bombing anyone and as such were not exactly stealthy to begin with. Still, as he passed them sleepily shuffling on their roosts that afternoon, he had to admit that the sound was quite pleasant.

Certainly it drowned out the dry clack-clack of Mr. and Mrs. Walter-Funk's wind-chimes, which were made of human bones and multiplied at an unsettling rate.

So, this one was inspired by a few excellent posts here on the [livejournal.com profile] eerie_indiana comm and one off it:

[livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat made me this awesome pic of adult!Dash drinking beer in his undies.

The Creature Feature prompt for November is Dinosaurs, and the prompt for October was Mummies.

[livejournal.com profile] eviinsanemonkey has started crocheting an adorable Dashisaurus Rex, who was born of the fic fest prompt by [livejournal.com profile] yarol_2075, brought to life by [livejournal.com profile] eviinsanemonkey and whose origins you can read about here (part one) and here (part two).

And a story I read on FB about a naked guy walking outside during the lunar eclipse to accept a pizza from a delivery guy.

It's the 7th of the month, and that means... CREATURE FEATURE!

Give us fic, give us fanart, give us whatever springs to your mind when you think of our monster of the month:

a Yoshi pattern that's super cute.

so I adapted said Yoshi pattern to make Dashisaurus Rex

He's not done yet. I'm working on his head spikes (grey of course) and then I have to see if I have enough black yarn to make his body...I don't think I do which is sad but oh well. Dashisaurus Rex stress head?

anyway, here's his head:

Thank you to Froodle and Deifire for letting me play with their fics, by the way. It's been super fun and I'm psyched to have Eerie fic to listen to while Crocheting (even if it's in my own voice...which should be weird but kind of isn't).

I was going to do Gingerbread tonight, too (have it all recorded and everything) but omg editing Pay Attention was a pain 'cause I fail and mess up a lot and I should probably go to bed as I'm still not 100% better...

Also, by the way? THIS IS BASICALLY THE LENGTH OF AN EPISODE. Which is pretty freaking awesome. And according to Froodle I'd already done 46 minutes of Eerie fic before this so like. HOLY SHIT GUYS. We basically took over the show. like. Legit. there is enough Eerie fic on the internet for MULTIPLE EPISODES.

Pretty sure if the Eerie fans decided to we could make our own damn Eerie continuation...

um. AN EERIE PODCAST?! Where like. Simon, Dash, and Mars create a subversive radio station when Chisel's plans start working out and shit goes all out into OMFG DON'T LET US DIE territory? And Syndi is their like...story writer because she took one look at Mars's first news bulletin and was like "No." and rewrote the whole thing?

Also it's location moves and Radford helps them because there are like. Weird portal things all over Eerie and he can help them go places. And like. A series of eps that have to be transmitted from the Bureau of Lost with ENTIRELY lost items because Chisel's too close and they literally have to get lost for awhile?!

Are we organized enough for this?

I'm way too tired and should stop typing but the audio is still uploading...

So, this takes place in the same world as Pay Attention, but it doesn't follow on from what I wrote so far. It's definitely set some time after that story finishes, but I've had this idea in my head for a few days so, whatever, have a thing.
