The only way to make that content true HD is to scan the original film source elements (if they still exist), recreate the cut, and re-do titles and effects. This is obviously time-consuming and expensive.

And the "if they still exist" part is the killer. Joe Dante told me he'd been assured the film elements of EERIE, INDIANA were being kept when he agreed to post it on video. Checked back years later... nope, all gone.
